In Part 1, you learn all 12 basic hànzi strokes used in Chinese writing. 

You also learn 17 of the 32 complete hànzi strokes, which include combination strokes that give Chinese its characteristic look and richness.

Additionally, you begin to make sense of how individual characters are often formed using simpler elements called radicals and components. 

You also start to discover how Chinese words can be single characters or, in some cases, combinations of multiple characters.
